An easement plus living 2' away from your neighbor? No wonder everyone has Covid there.

Dr. Fauci’s been pretty clear he expects it to inevitably infect 70-80% of the population b y the time the pandemic ends, just means you’ll get through to the other side sooner than the rest of us

We had 250 new cases on Friday, which is stunning for a city of 50,000. But we are a college town and 220 of them are between 10 years and 29 years old. So if you work from home and stay away from kids like we do , I expect we are fine.

However, there are plenty enough of non-non makskers to go around. This morning there was a party of 16 eating breakfast near us. This was the day after the wedding breakfast consisting of the grand children, adult siblings and spouses and the the grandparents having a grand old old time. Lets hope they don’t have a more somber reason to gather in a month......

Whatever, gotta put on the new hoosiers, new seat belts and go racing at Road America next weekend.

I am hoping to stick it out until there is a vaccine. It is interesting to note when looking on the NYT map that this does burn itself out.

The city of chicago which is far bigger than wisconsin had 1/5 the number of new cases that wisconsin had yesterday. New York City had fewer coases than LaCrosse did on Friday. At 3.5/100000 that NYC us seeing, you start having to be pretty unlucky to catch this. Today we are at 113/100000 rate.

PS, our local rates I believe are totally due to college apartments/and parties and our bars being open, business as usual.

Its also weird, we didn’t do much different than New York, but our positive tests are high enough that I’d have to quarantine for two weeks just to pop over the river to visit my credit union in New Jersey. With us, it came in waves - first college kids at the University of Delaware, then undocumented workers at the chicken processing plants in Sussex County, then tourists at the beaches. But, truthfully, there’s enough of it out there that it can keep spreading on its own without too much help.

Personally, those two weeks were far from the best of my life, but I don’t know that they were bad enough that I’d structure the whole rest of my life around not catching it again, my lingering cough finally went away about 3 weeks ago. Still, once a vaccine is available, I’ll camp overnight in the Walgreens parking lot if it means getting one of the first doses, don’t care how rushed/incomplete the testing is, just gimme. And especially gimmie s ome sort of official looking card or paperwork that indicates I received it.

I agree with your perspective, without a vaccine, life doesn’t go back to normal for years,. No concerts, not live sports crowds, etc if your plan is to not get this.

Depends how it's done, I was at a live jazz concert this afternoon, but it was outdoors, early in the day, because no lighting, and everyone was spaced out 6ft in their own lawn chairs. Also, no food/bevereage concessions and no porta potties, and the crowd was small enough that I question whether anyone made anything off it at $10 a head

I used to live in Madison. Some friends there have been posting pics of long lines of maskless hordes of college kids outside bars.

But...without getting too political, I’m sure the behavior of many of the politically redder W isconsinites of all ages is pretty covid spread friendly. I know for a fact from my wife's fam in Burlington that shit's kinda crazy around there at the moment.

We are in a Midwest relatively high rate per capita area too. As others have stated, it mostly seems to be spreading among the kids. Have had four nieces and nephews test positive. They just are kids, they like to hang out, and they think they are indestructible.

I am getting pretty tired of it,and don’t really worry about it for me personally. Would probably stop wearing a mask in most places and let the chips fall, but I don’t want to be part of the problem and spread it to more at risk people, or people in general.

I try not to take unnecessary trips but end up going to the hardware store and a big box stores 2-3 times a week, if I need something I go get it. I don’t want to ride in an airplane, and will go to less crowded, smaller grocery stores, but other than that business as usual.

I am 59 and in pretty good health, very active. Both parents still around, I do worry about them.

The owner is family (by marriage).

I need to go one day.  He owns an insane amount of memorabilia.  Far more than what's on the walls of that place.  And none of it is fake/replica either.

Oh the whole spectrum of concerts will be changed. We have 1000+ in the park for summer concerts, about 800 for the local Symphony, and I just don’t expect to see the Eagles any time soon. It won’t be the same.

Plus this time I think The Who are really done,,,,,, Oh well.

Small world. I’ve known Mark’s wife (I forget her first name) for about 20 years. We work in the same office, though I haven’t been in that building for 6 months. It is a definite “ go to” place in the packers world.

My hope and presumption is that our cases would be mild. I just don’t want to discover that either of us has unfortunate outcomes or long term affects.

For us life is not so different as the high risk things such as concerts, packer games, Badger basketball, that we would like to do aren’t happening anyway.

One thing that is kind of sad is every christmas we used to go and stay down on State street in Madison and shop and go out to eat. I assume that may be done forever as I don’t expect the stores or restaurants to survive and or come back.

Ha - yes it is a small world. Laurie's father is married to my mom.  We didn't grow up together or anything, but they've been married for 21 years now I believe.

A lot of people just don’t care if they get it and who they might spread it to. We were at aldi yesterday and there was some 20 something dude, his girlfriend had a mask, he didn’t. There was the not very bright looking 30's something family with the chubby 14 year old boy with gau ges in his ears. They had no masks and basically clowning around like a visit to the store was a vacation for them. Both basically  acting like “don’t you put your values on me”....

Yep, I put it down to there just not being high community empathy anymore.
